Located in Okinawa’s Miyako Island, “Umioto” is an overwhelmingly popular guesthouse among women traveling together, married couples, and romantic partners.
Just a 15-minute drive from the airport and a 10-minute walk to Sunayama Beach, it offers a prime location to fully enjoy the island’s signature views of the sea and sky.
At night, the sky fills with countless stars and the Milky Way, where you can enjoy a romantic experience lying in the garden hammock while searching for shooting stars.

From the spacious 500-tsubo (approx. 1,650 m²) garden and rooftop, you can admire sweeping views of sugarcane fields and the ocean, accompanied by the calls of wild birds and tropical scenery.
At night, the starry sky spreads like a natural planetarium, and until around December, you can also enjoy the glow of fireflies.
Additionally, Umioto became the first guesthouse in Japan to win the World Luxury Hotel Awards, often referred to as the Academy Awards of the hotel industry.
It is a truly special place that has gained international recognition.

All guest rooms are equipped with two semi-double beds, offering spacious comfort for a good night’s rest.
Guests can also choose from six different types of pillows with varying firmness and materials, helping relieve travel fatigue and ensuring sound sleep.
For peace of mind, a digital code lock is installed—no need to carry keys. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.
Each room also comes with an air purifier, air conditioning, and multi-device chargers, providing a comfortable environment even for long stays.

Inside the building, there is a shared living space called “Yuntaku”, where guests naturally gather to chat and exchange information.
It offers a warm atmosphere that is especially reassuring for solo female travelers.
For those who want to cook, a 270-cm large system kitchen is available.
Equipped with popular appliances from BALMUDA (toaster and microwave), as well as cookware, tableware, and seasonings, it allows for easy and enjoyable cooking.
The water facilities are also excellent. The separate male and female shower rooms are fitted with high-performance ReFa shower heads.
Washing machines (with detergent, ¥200) and dryers (¥300) are also provided, convenient after enjoying the beach or activities.

One of Umioto’s biggest attractions is its large pool within the premises.
During the day, you can relax in a resort atmosphere, and at night, it transforms into a fantastical night pool.
Since the pool is heated, you can enjoy it even in cooler seasons.
Floating on an inner tube while gazing at the night sky, waiting for shooting stars—this is the luxurious “Floating TIME☆彡” you can experience here.
Guests can also enjoy a “poolside toast” with special cups. This is a one-of-a-kind experience that feels like staying at a luxury resort hotel.
It’s also perfect for taking Instagrammable photos and videos, making your travel memories even more vibrant.
Available period: Mid-June to early November

If you want to experience Miyako Island’s beautiful sea up close, we recommend the snorkeling tour exclusively for guests staying two nights or more.
Guests enter directly from the beach, and the best spots are chosen based on the day’s weather and sea conditions.
If you’re lucky, you might encounter sea turtles or clownfish.
The experience lasts about 2–3 hours and includes a mask, fins, and life jacket, making it safe even for beginners.
Furthermore, for the first time in Miyako Island, Umioto offers a special service of providing you with a video of your tour experience immediately after it ends.
It’s a unique activity where you can share your memories on the same day.

Why not preserve the colors of Miyako’s sea and the sparkle of its waves as your own art?
In this hands-on resin workshop, you layer your favorite colors into transparent resin to create a one-of-a-kind “Ocean Art.”
The wave patterns are especially exciting since they cannot be redone—every creation is unique.
Another charm of resin is watching your piece gradually change as it hardens over a few days.
It’s a creative experience where you can take home a piece of your journey.
Stroll at Sunayama Beach
Easily accessible from Umioto, Sunayama Beach is a small paradise beyond white sand dunes. The natural rock arch against the blue sea is one of Miyako’s most iconic views. At sunset, the sea and sky turn orange, creating an unforgettable moment.
Car Rental Service
A rental car service is available onsite. Combined with your stay, it makes for smooth travel plans, including airport transfers. With a car, you can freely explore Miyako’s scenic spots. Non-guests can also rent cars, so feel free to inquire.
Scooter & Bicycle Rentals
If you want to feel the island’s atmosphere more directly, scooters and bicycles are recommended. Unlike cars, slow travel lets you discover hidden beaches, small villages, or seasonal flowers—unexpected sights may become your most precious memories.
Tori-ike (Shimoji Island)
Located on Shimoji Island, Tori-ike is a mystical spot where two ponds are believed to connect with the ocean underwater. The contrast of the blue water and surrounding greenery is magical, like a giant artwork created by nature. Known as a sacred site, it’s popular for sightseeing and photography alike.
Kurima Island & Kurima Bridge
Connecting Miyako Island and Kurima Island, the 1,690-meter Kurima Bridge offers a spectacular ocean drive.
From the bridge, you can see white sandy beaches, coral reefs, and the signature “Miyako Blue” sea.
Kurima Island, though small, has abundant nature and cozy cafés, perfect for a relaxing visit.
Ikema Island & Ikema Bridge
North of Miyako Island, Ikema Bridge leads to Ikema Island, crossing over crystal-clear Miyako Blue waters.
Driving across feels like floating over the ocean itself. Once on the island, you’ll find peaceful villages and untouched nature, surrounded by a uniquely calm atmosphere.
It’s a must-visit spot that combines sightseeing and scenic driving.
“Umioto” is a special guesthouse where you can enjoy both comfort and connection while being embraced by Miyako’s nature.
It’s perfect not only for girls’ trips and couple getaways but also safe and welcoming for solo travelers, helping make your Miyako Island memories even more special.
