Discover the New Hotspot in Tokyo: “Toyosu Senkyakubanrai”

In February 2024, the long-awaited “Toyosu Senkyakubanrai” will finally open its doors.

This new facility aims to carry on the vibrant legacy of the Tsukiji Market while creating a bustling atmosphere unique to the Toyosu Market.

The concept began in 2015, focusing on community revitalization and increasing inbound tourism to the market and Japan as a whole.

Located just a 4-minute walk from Shijomae Station on the Yurikamome line, Toyosu Senkyakubanrai promises to become a major attraction.

The name “Senkyakubanrai” translates to “a multitude of customers coming and going,” encapsulating the hope that many visitors will create a lively atmosphere.

The facility consists of two main buildings: the “Toyosu Jogai Edomae Market,” a food and shopping complex, and the “Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club,” a hot spring facility.

Toyosu Jogai Edomae Market

The Toyosu Jogai Edomae Market is a three-floor commercial complex featuring approximately 70 shops. The design includes traditional materials like Mikage stone and Awaji roof tiles, along with timber from the Tama region, recreating the feel of old Edo streets.

On the second floor, connected by a deck from Shijomae Station, lies “Toyosu Main Street.” This area recreates the bustling markets of the Edo period.

As soon as you step in, you’ll feel like you’ve traveled back in time, surrounded by Edo-style eateries and shops. Enjoy local delicacies like sushi and eel while being immersed in the lively atmosphere.

Adjacent to Toyosu Main Street is “Mekiki Yokocho,” an indoor area where various shops sell items carefully selected by middlemen. The ceiling is adorned with “tairyo-bata” flags, signaling the return of fishing boats with large catches, adding to the market’s vibrant feel.

Here, you can savor fresh seasonal ingredients, rare treats, and sweets from a variety of stores. It’s perfect for a walking food tour or a bar-hopping experience.

On the third floor, you’ll find a sushi food court called “Yoridori Machiya.” This area offers a variety of sushi, including bowls and poke bowls, making use of the fresh fish from the adjacent market.

One highlight is the “Iroha Toyosu” seafood buffet, where you can enjoy around 40 types of dishes, including snow crab, side dishes, and desserts.

This fast-food restaurant is run by Souma Suisan, a tuna wholesaler in Toyosu with 60 years of history. Because they are a wholesaler, they offer rare cuts of tuna at great prices, attracting many people to line up before the store even opens.

Various parts of tuna, such as otoro (fatty tuna), chutoro (medium fatty tuna), cheek meat, and brain, are skewered. The one in the picture is chutoro. It is rich and melts in your mouth the moment you take a bite.

“Chuka Soba Toyosu Katsumoto,” the new branch of “Chuka Soba Katsumoto” with its main store located in Suidobashi, Tokyo, often has long lines during lunchtime. Therefore, you can enjoy a more relaxed meal if you visit before 11 AM or after 2 PM.

The signature dish, “Chuka Soba,” features a light and flavorful broth made by carefully extracting the umami and aroma of dried sardines. It is paired with springy, special noodles from “Asakusa Kaikaro.” This bowl lets you enjoy the deep richness of soy sauce and the fragrance of dried sardines. The nostalgic taste is incredibly addictive.

Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club

The other main attraction is the Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club, a flagship hot spring facility that operates 24 hours a day.

You can enjoy spectacular views of Tokyo Bay from the outdoor baths and foot baths in the garden on the top floor.

The Manyo Club transports natural hot spring water daily from the famous hot springs of Hakone and Yugawara, providing a truly relaxing experience.

The eighth floor also features a free foot bath garden, where visitors can soak their feet while enjoying the Toyosu skyline.

The floor includes a café and a restaurant bar, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing break during your visit.
